What is iCloud and what does it do

iCloud is a cloud-based storage and computing service from Apple. iCloud enables users to store data such as documents, photos, and music on remote servers for download to iOS, macOS, or Windows devices, to share and send data to other users, and to manage their Apple devices if lost or stolen. i

Cloud also provides the means to wirelessly back up iOS devices directly to iCloud, instead of being reliant on manual backups to a host Mac or Windows computer using iTunes. By design, iCloud is intended to offload work that would otherwise have to be done locally on each device. After its launch in 2011, it became one of the most heavily promoted features of Apple's then-new iOS 5 operating system for iPhone and iPad. As of 2020, about 850 million people use iCloud.

How to create an iCloud account

You can create an iCloud account when you set up your device or sign in to iCloud.com. When you set up iCloud, you automatically get 5GB of free storage. If you need more storage, you can upgrade to a larger storage plan. To create an iCloud account on your device, follow these steps:

1. Tap the create new apple ID button
2. On your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch: Go to Settings > iCloud. Tap Create a new Apple ID.
3. On your Mac: Open System Preferences and click iCloud. Click the Create Apple ID button.
4. On iCloud.com: Go to www.icloud.com and click Create an Apple ID.

How to login to iCloud

If you have an Apple ID, you can use it to login to iCloud and access your iCloud data. To login to iCloud, go to www.iCloud.com and enter your Apple ID and password. Once you're logged in, you'll be able to view your iCloud data and manage your settings.

How to delete an iCloud account

First, open the Settings app on your iOS device and tap on iCloud. Next, scroll to the bottom of the page and tap Delete Account. You will be asked to confirm your decision; tap Delete again to proceed. Keep in mind that this will also delete any data that is stored in iCloud, so be sure to back up any files that you want to keep before proceeding. After deletion, your device will no longer be able to access iCloud services or data.
